Frame First Feature: Wheel Wranglers & A Custom INTENSE Spider

This week, we’re heading to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where Wheel Wranglers has been connecting riders to mountain adventures since 2019. Founded by longtime rider and shop veteran Bill, Wheel Wranglers was built from a love of trail time, great service, and creating unforgettable rider experiences. What started as a rental delivery service has grown into a full-service operation with two locations, complete retail and repair, demos, and even E-MTB guiding in the Big Hole Mountains. At its core, Wheel Wranglers is all about wrangling up the right bikes for the right adventures.

For Bill and his team, Frame First opens the door to deeper conversations with customers. It allows riders to personalize their setups, while shops leverage their expertise and inventory to deliver bikes that truly fit the rider and terrain.

Check out Bill’s story and full spec list below.

What’s your bike story?

Got introduced to MTB by a friend during our early 20s and I was hooked!

What was the "aha" moment when you knew this was more than a hobby and how it inspired you to open your shop?

I was in love with the shop life since my first shop job thanks to great mentors for many years.  From there the inspiration was a cumulative of so many amazing industry experiences helping riders & riding with friends.  I wanted to continue improving my service, grow cycling, build a great team, & keep riding accessible & fun!  Now, thanks to a great team & great partners, we’re doing just that!

What’s the story behind the name of your shop?

Wheel Wranglers connects you to mountain adventures by bike, and the name is a nod to our origins as a rental delivery service!  As we’ve grown and expanded to two locations, full retail stocking, full service repair, comprehensive rental/demo, and also E-MTB guiding in the Big Hole Mountains out of Victor, Idaho, the name still encompasses what we do: wrangling up the bikes for amazing rider experiences!

What keeps your passion for mountain biking alive, year after year?

That feeling I get when I arrive to the trailhead, the feeling being on trail & ripping a descent!  Savoring that feeling and sharing it with others keeps me going!

What are your thoughts on the INTENSE Frame First program and how it has helped your business?

It makes sense for everybody right now: riders get a more personal setup, us shops can leverage expertise & on hand inventory, and we can all take advantage of & blend discounted with latest/greatest components.

How has the Frame First program changed the dialogue with the consumer in your shop?

Opens up the conversation to what’s possible, and what the best product is!

What are some underrated pieces of gear or bike setup tips you think more riders should know about?

I’m a freak for cockpit setup: from lever positions that work for each hand, to handlebar width (not too wide!).  I also feel strongly that every rider should always maximize their dropper travel!  Good grips & pedals help too!
